Amazing tour through the Komodo National Park with our super friendly and fun Guide Bona! After driving through Flores, we started our 3d2n trip from Labuan Bajo through the beautiful Komodo National Park with Bona as our Guide. We initially planned to do it with family, but had to change plans and had this beautiful huge boat for us alone. The boat was comfy, aswell as the huge rooms and there was delicious food on every single day. Bona was always very helpful and could not only speak fluent english, but also some german! That's why my family also booked a longer tour with him as guide several months later and totally enjoyed it! As for the tour itself: After talking to Bona and the captain we decided to skip the very touristic island (the "jurassic park" one) and head towards some of the smaller islands. Together with some Toys (LatoLato) we talked to the people and walked around their island – with the hope to see the infamous Komodo Dragon! The first Island was a little viewpoint to see the green mountains (that's why I can always recommend this time of the year). On the second Island, we walked around with our first Ranger – equipped with a little Stick to keep the Dragons away – and walked passed gardens and goats. We finished by walking into a cave with bats. On the way back to boat we were surprised by a swimming Komodo Dragon and were a bit surprised, since you don't see them swimming a lot. Back on our boat, we were ready for our sunset spectacle: tens of thousands of Flying Foxes were circulating in a spiral from their island on the way to the main land for fruits. It was such an amazing sight that we had to watch until the sky turned pitch black! Wow! The next morning we woke up early to go on the most famous (instagrammable) peak on Pulau Padar. Nowadays there are stairs, which make the way up very comfy and easy! Drones are only allowed with special permission that can be bought at the checkpoint (roughly 100€) which is understandable, since it's also sometimes very annoying with too many content creators. We went back to the boat for a little sleep until we had some more crazy sights: we saw a dugong which is super rare! While leaving to the main komodo island to see some dragons, we had to pass by many local stands selling souvenirs – it's up to you. The main island has different routes, depending on the time you have got. We were lucky and saw many huge dragons upclose and got our typical picture behind the animal. It's still so bizarre to see those very toxic animals upclose – but due to the ranger we never felt unsecure! Bona was also giving us many information on the island, the dragons and the people and was always helpful when it came to taking pictures, having a little talk or spotting animals :) We finished with another island called Pink Beach – and it was really pinkish! The crystal clear water with it's colorful corals and full of fish and underwater live were a great finisher! We have seen many so-called pink-beaches, but this was by far the best one on our world trip! I would always recommend this tour and especially with Bona, with whom we have contact until nowadays and surely we will visit him again :) Thanks for those fantastic memories!
